About Us
The Endocrine Surgeons of South Africa (ESSA) was established by a group of dedicated endocrine surgeons with a unified mission: to advance the practice of endocrine surgery within the country. Specialising in thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal surgery, ESSA aims to enhance patient care and outcomes through collaboration, research, and education.
As a non-profit organization committed to public benefit, ESSA has outlined several key objectives.
The objectives of the Society, as a non-profit organisation with activities for public benefit, are to:
1. Organise scientific meetings to:
• a. provide a platform for discussing challenging clinical cases and experience in endocrine surgery.
• b. promote and facilitate collaborative research.
2. To start a national endocrine surgery registry.
3. To support best practice principles in the surgical management of endocrine disease.
4. To cooperate in educational endeavours of similar interest groups throughout Africa and beyond.
