The World Congress on Thyroid Cancer (WCTC) will host a special African Tumor Board session on Saturday, 21 February 2026. This is a virtual event and there is no cost to attend. The session runs from 9:00 to 10:30 AM (EST), which is 4:00 to 5:30 PM South Africa time (SAST).
Tumor boards remain one of the most valuable formats in cancer care because they translate evidence into practical decisions. This session brings together experienced clinicians to discuss real-world thyroid cancer cases, highlight evolving approaches to diagnosis and treatment, and consider how guidelines and resources apply in African settings. For clinicians and trainees, it is an opportunity to hear expert reasoning step by step, understand how multidisciplinary teams weigh risk, and learn what is changing in contemporary thyroid cancer management.
The African focus is particularly important. Patients often present later, access to molecular testing and advanced imaging can vary, and surgical and oncology services may differ by region. A case-based discussion that reflects these realities can offer practical insights that are directly relevant to daily practice, while also strengthening collaboration between centres and disciplines.
Clinicians, researchers, and trainees with an interest in endocrine surgery, endocrinology, oncology, pathology, radiology, and nuclear medicine are encouraged to attend. Even if you are not presenting a case, listening to the discussion can sharpen clinical judgement and improve the consistency of care pathways.
